No "alien invasion" ones, plz
. and i know about most of the well-known ones so you don't have to mention contact or close encounters of the third kind, etc. little-known gems would be good.

A little-known hugo winner by terry bisson, short stories, has a few 'gems' in it about peaceful aliens.
it's a bit hard to find, but i got it at a used book store.
the left hand of darkness by ursula k. leguin is a peaceful aliens sci-fi classic. a few of her books are, but this is best known.
douglas adams wrote about aliens both peaceful and war-like in the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.
there is a twist to ender's game by orson scott card, and the book that follows, speaker of the dead, carries out a peaceful aliens theme.
